About the Role
Job Summary:
The People and Culture Intern will have the opportunity for exposure to various aspects of human resources and gain valuable hands-on experience in a variety of HR functions. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Organize and support Porter’s orientation program for new team members
- Work with the talent team and People and Culture Coordinators to onboard all new team members and ensure all required documentation is complete prior to the team members’ first day
- Collaborate with the talent team in all stages of the full-cycle recruitment process
- Assist with the creation of change forms and various administrative tasks
- Support the People and Culture Advisors with team member relations
- Coordinate the team member resignation process, facilitate exit interviews and track the return of company equipment
- Monitor the general People and Culture email inbox by providing a high level of customer service, and respond to daily inquiries related to company policies, programs and procedures in a timely manner
- Partner with the Benefits team to gather new hire benefit enrolment forms, correspond with team members on outstanding forms and update systems as necessary
- Maintain good working relationships with team members across various stations and departments
- Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy

Qualifications:
- Working toward a university Degree/certificate in Human Resources Management or equivalent education
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- Outstanding attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- High level of organizational skills to meet all timelines
- Ability to work in a highly confidential manner with all work related contacts and exercise a high degree of tact, discretion and professionalism
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task and work effectively in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google
