What is the Opportunity?

The Finance Co-op, (Co-op Student), under the direction of the Finance Manager, is responsible for accurately and confidently assisting with account reconciliations and journal entries. This position demonstrates the ability to perform daily activities such as General Ledger maintenance and entering billings and payroll entries into the systems. While supporting Aecon’s vision, mission and goals the Finance Co-op, (Co-op Student), regularly performs administrative tasks and additional duties as required. Duration: 4 Months ??   • Job setups, cost codes, contracts and budgets
  • Assist Project Accountants with billings
  • Assist with invoice preparations at month end
  • Participate in special projects – financial analysis / quality checks

What You Bring To The Team

What's the Opportunity As the Human Resources Assistant, reporting into the HR Director, you will be responsible for specific HR Engagement initiatives and programs. In addition, you will be responsible for participating in an effective hiring and on-boarding process for new employees on the project, ensuring a good candidate and new hire experience.

This is a 12 Month Contract Opportunity

What You'll Do

HR Engagement Initiatives:

  • Coordinating various HR initiatives and programs designed for our project staff including development of employee surveys, facilitating executive presentation etc.

  • Drafting project assignment letters for Project Coordinator Rotational program and ensure full handover is complete

  • Conducting check in and coffee chats with various participants in HR programs to gather insights

  • Tracking of participation in the programs and measuring success through Key Performance Indicators

  • Administer programs including collecting nominations, creating letters and tracking of all nominations. Leads promotional activities to encourage program use.

  • Maintain monthly “New Hire Welcome” session schedule and coordinate calendar invites

  • Schedule and coordinate Orientations for new hires and various events other HR Programs for all employ-ee monthly and quarterly

  • Deliver Employee Orientations and Benefit Overviews on an as needed basis

  • Prepare new Employee Orientation packages

  • Send out all post communication to employee/manager regarding their onboarding information

Recruitment:

  • Support job descriptions drafting and revisions as needed.

  • Liaise with Talent Acquisition Advisor(s) regarding job requisitions and posting to support certain requisi-tion full cycle

  • Arrange and coordinate interview schedules

  • Introduce a Joint Venture co-op program through recruitment activities, scheduling site tours with site staff each term (ensuring all necessary student paperwork is in place) and end of term event.

  • Required Knowledge and Experience

What is the Opportunity? As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.

The Project Coordinator Co-op will report to the Construction Manager and will be responsible for planning all critical material movements. This role will require continuous communication with all project team members, and will be responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvements of material handling methods.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Plans and implements an engineering and construction program, including defining the project plan, activities, milestones, and manpower requirements

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Comprehensive Work Package in cooperation with construction and engineering.

  • Identify, report, and secure approval for deviations from the design documents as they occur and before release to construction.

  • Provide assurance that construction activities are performed in accordance with written and approved policy, standards, programs and applicable procedures.

  • Provide and ensure effectiveness of the liaison function between field trades and design engineers for problem resolution and information flow.

  • Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management

  • Establish and maintain interfaces with other internal groups, subcontractors and suppliers supporting the project.

  • Develop and write detailed work plans in cooperation with construction leads.

  • Maintain high standards related to final product quality

  • Develops and maintains the project schedule and budget for the engineering and construction segments of the project

  • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget

  • Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, as built drawings, turnover documents, etc.

  • Reviews project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications

  • Coordinates activities relating to technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems

  • Interfaces with customers to provide project status reports and ensures customer needs are met

  • Assists and monitors safety programs and statistics as required

  • Active involvement in quality assurance with regards to understating and implementing policies and procedures.

  • Develop material handling plans for each critical construction activity utilizing 3D modeling.

  • Pursuing a Civil Engineering Degree is preferred

What you’ll do here:

  • Completing project shift reports as needed with internal software.

  • Supply field and office support to tunnel management/operations:

    • Assist in the development and maintenance of work plans and packages in cooperation with construction and engineering.
    • Interpretation of design documents as well as drawings and assist with implementation of design in the field. Identifying, recording and reporting any deviation from design documents and drawings.
    • Ensure that construction activities are performed in accordance with written and approved policy, standards, programs and applicable procedures.
    • Assist with finding vendors and complete purchase requisitions on an efficient timeline for procurement to not interfere or delay operations
  • Provide accurate progress reports to tunnel management.

  • Assists and monitor safety programs and statistics as required.

  • Active involvement in quality assurance with regards to understating and implementing policies and procedures.

  • Support TBM and surface shift coordinators:

    • On site testing of materials/products as required
    • Collection of samples (such as grout or excavated soil) as required
    • Completing quality control checks using internal check sheets
    • Fill in as shift coordinator as needed.
  • Other works as needed during Co-op opportunity.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Pursuing a Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mining Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
