Summary: Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville Hotel is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to support our HR team in delivering exceptional service to our associates and departments. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in human resources within a fast-paced, customer-focused hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with full cycle recruitment for all departments.
- Help coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hotel enthusiasts.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, training logs, and certifications (e.g., food safety).
- Support in organizing employee engagement events, recognition programs, and wellness initiatives.
- Assist in compliance with labor laws, health and safety standards, and hotel brand guidelines.
- Help track uniform issuance, ID cards, and other employee logistics.
- Provide general administrative support such as filing, scheduling, and preparing HR communications.
- Shadow and support various HR functions including payroll, training, and employee relations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional internal service.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); knowledge of HRIS or scheduling tools is a plus.
