GEI's Listowel office is seeking a motivated intern or co-op student to assist with on-going civil engineering projects throughout southern Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from our senior staff and gain a wide range of experience.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties* Assist with engineering analyses and design for drainage, stormwater management, site grading and site servicing;
Perform computations using modelling software, prepare spreadsheets, prepare and edit site plan drawings;
Assist with preparation of technical reports;
Assist in developing cost estimates, construction specifications and contract documents;
Complete field work and monitor various construction activities on an as-needed basis.
Minimum Qualifications* Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in engineering.
Experience and aptitude to work with the following software packages: Microsoft Office, Autocad Civil 3D considered an asset;
Possess strong organizational, oral, written communication, and problem solving skills; have an approachable enthusiastic interpersonal style;
Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to work in the field as needed.

GEI’s earth sciences practice leadership in Ontario is located Barrie, and an expectation would be for the successful candidate to be present in the Barrie branch office to facilitate in-person collaboration with the team.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties* Based in the Barrie, Markham or Guelph Offices of GEI, attend select construction sites in Southern and Central Ontario to perform testing / inspection of granular, soil, hot mix asphalt and field testing of cast-in-place during various phases of construction.
Become familiar with review of design drawings, project specifications and industry accepted construction standards developed by Municipal, Provincial and Federal agencies.
Direct preparation of technical reports, memos, and analysis following appropriate Company guidelines.
Collaborate with the geotechnical and environmental staff on joint projects, as well as collaborate with and support other GEI teams (e.g., geotechnical investigation, environmental monitoring; ecological, geostructural, municipal, etc.) on various projects.
Assist with laboratory testing, as required, in support of field activities.
Promote health and safety in all aspects of work.

Minimum Qualifications* In good academic standing in a Civil or Construction Engineering Technology program with an accredited post secondary institution, eligible for 8 month co-operative education work term. Minimum Qualifications* In good academic standing in a Civil or Construction Engineering Technology program with an accredited post secondary institution, eligible for 8 month co-operative education work term. Note: 4 month work terms and/or students enrolled in an Environmental Engineering program may be considered based on specific qualifications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent computer skills with technical analysis software, MS Office, MS Project, and other computer applications.
Valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle. Note: business use insurance is a requirement of the position.

GEI's Listowel office is seeking a motivated intern or co-op student to assist with on-going civil engineering projects throughout southern Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from our senior staff and gain a wide range of experience.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties* Assist with engineering analyses and design for drainage, stormwater management, site grading and site servicing;
Perform computations using modelling software, prepare spreadsheets, prepare and edit site plan drawings;
Assist with preparation of technical reports;
Assist in developing cost estimates, construction specifications and contract documents;
Complete field work and monitor various construction activities on an as-needed basis.
Minimum Qualifications* Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in engineering.
Experience and aptitude to work with the following software packages: Microsoft Office, Autocad Civil 3D considered an asset;
Possess strong organizational, oral, written communication, and problem solving skills; have an approachable enthusiastic interpersonal style;
Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to work in the field as needed.
