Position Summary

The Finance team at Assured Guaranty is seeking a summer intern to join for a 10 week assignment. This position will assist with tax return preparation as well as financial statement disclosures.

Primary Responsibilities

The Intern will assist with the following tasks:

  • Assist with the preparation of GAAP and insurance statutory (SSAP #10) income tax provisions and supporting documentation

  • Assist with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns and related work papers including M-1/M-3 tax adjustment schedules for insurance and non-insurance companies

  • Assist in preparing state premium and municipal tax returns

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly federal and state estimated tax payment calculations along with extensions and related filings

Required Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

  • A highly motivated self-starter and successful in a team-oriented setting

  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • While any discipline will be considered, candidates studying finance or, accounting will be prioritized

The salary for the position is expected to be from $28 per hour to $32 per hour. Structured Finance Intern - Summer 2025

Position Summary

Assured Guaranty works with banks, issuers, finance companies, asset managers and their advisors to provide cost-effective credit enhancement for structured finance transactions in markets around the world. Our guaranty improves the creditworthiness, marketability and market liquidity of traditional consumer and commercial asset-backed securities and structured municipal financings in both new issue and secondary markets and enables efficient risk transfer in public or private transactions for financial institutions, including banks, asset managers and insurance companies.

The Global Structured Finance Group focuses on originating and underwriting credit and other financial risk related to a range of clients and asset types including (among others) asset backed securities, commercial real estate, collateralized loan obligations and fund finance.

Assured is seeking an applicant eager to assist and develop skills in the aforementioned areas, contributing to the group’s overall success. The candidate will develop a skillset and deep understanding of structured finance markets and structured credit asset classes, in addition to communication, presentation and research related skills in the workplace. The candidate will be exposed to all "steps" in the underwriting process including research, idea generation, credit underwriting, modeling, documentation, execution.

Primary Responsibilities

The intern will assist with the following tasks:

  • Work directly with the group's junior and senior professionals in all aspects of structured finance origination

  • Conduct market research and industry reviews for an array of asset classes (utilizing resources such as rating agency reports, Bloomberg, etc.)

  • Assist in all aspects of underwriting of transactions, including deal screening, market research, credit memos and internal presentations

  • Participate in meetings internally with senior management and externally with clients

  • Coordinate actions with other departments or groups as necessary

  • Review sections of transaction legal documentation and translate findings within the group

Candidate Background and Qualifications

  • Pursuing bachelor's degree in finance, insurance, economics, statistics, accounting, or related field preferred (or pursuing career in finance related field)

Vendor Management Intern - Summer 2025

Position Summary

Assured Guaranty is seeking to hire an intern within the Vendor Management to provide administrative support to the VMO including maintenance of vendor records (tax documentation, contracts) as well as assistance with day-to-day workflow and summer projects.

Primary Responsibilities

The intern will assist with the following tasks:

  • Populate vendor records on ProcessUnity with tax IDs, correct vendor names to match documentation (as applicable)

  • Maintain vendor records in OneDrive
